LCRC Host Successful Track Day: Lucan Cycling Road held their first Introduction to Track Cycling Days of 2009 at Sundrive Road Track on Sunday (October 18th).

Track Bikes were provided for all that needed them - and Track Coach Stephen Gibbons put the riders through their paces with a varied program of events, with three hours of track time.

New members were put through their Accreditation - allowing them to train and Race at Sundrive Track next Season.

Experienced riders took part in the Accreditation - and then were timed over 200 M / 250 M - and contested two simulated races. 

Senior road riders Enda Connolly and Sandra Fitzgerald will target some Track events in 2010 - They have recently took delivery of their new Track bikes - and both riders are a welcome addtition to Lucans successful Track Team. 

Anne McGrane has only began training with LCRC on our beginner spins this month - but she quickly got the hang of fixed wheel riding with help from Stephen and Roisin.

Some of Lucans young track stars were also present - Kayleigh Gibbons, Ross Grogan and Darragh Zaidan displayed the Track skill that seen them dominate the Youth National Track Championships this Season.

Ian O'Hara also looked comfortable with his first experience of Irish Track racing - himself, John, Terry McGrane and Pat Zaidan easily passed Accreditation and Coach Stephen allowed them compete in their first Track race.

Highlight of the day was the Derny racing (Probably the first Derny races on the new Track Surface).

Qualified Derny Driver Stephen Gibbons held two races - and both were hotly contested by the new Track riders.

The day finished up with a Devil Take the hindmost race - a lot of the experienced riders were surprised to be eliminated early - and new Track riders Sandra Fitzgerald and Ian O'Hara got down to the final four.....
