Click Here For Trip Details: Both Riders had planned to race in the Manchester Regional Track League on Friday Night (Nov 20th) and the ACT Track League on Monday Night (Nov 23rd) - with SQT Track Training on Saturday and Sunday. Kennedy was forced to pull out of the first night of racing in the MRTL due to illness. Brendan Whelan lined up in the Group 4 race with another Irish rider Stuart Henry (North Down) also competing. Whelan took 2nd place in the 1st event - the 1Km Dash, the program was reduced to four races, after a bad crash forced the cancelation of the first race. Kennedy and Whelan took part in an advanced Madison training session on Saturday morning - with Whelan nervously paired with Velodrome Manager Bob Barber. Both riders 'just' managed to hold on to their Accreditations after an eventfull morning. An A+B SQT was held on Sunday night - with two+ hours of tough training leading into the final nights racing on Monday. The ACT track League is held in the Velodrome every Monday evening from 7pm to 10pm. Brendan Whelan got the ball rolling with a Win in the Scratch race - after one of the local Track riders, and good friend Rob Fitzhugh led out the Sprint for the Lucan rider with over four laps to go. Whelan has already taken Four Wins at the Velodrome this season in February and March. The Club had hoped to send a bigger team over - with three more of its Track Team having to Cancel due to strict Accreditation Rules. These riders will now travel over in January. |
