Kennedy 3rd In Mullingar: Roisin Kennedy (ESB CC) topped off a great week by taking a Podium place in the Women's Mullingar 2 Day (July 1st). Roisin only lost out on the Win by 35 seconds to New National Champion Melanie Spath (Cycleways) with Anne Dalton (Irish Development Team) taking 2nd.
Kennedy went clear in a break of Six riders on Saturdays Stage 1, putting over Four Mins into the main field at the finish - leaving these six riders to contest the top placings over the remaining two stages. Roisin followed this up with Third Prize in the evening Time Trial, and moved up to 3rd Overall on General Classification. The final stage on Sunday was a cagey affair with The Irish Development Team failing to cause Race Leader Melanie Spath any real danger. The race came down to a Bunch Sprint with Kennedy doing enough to hold on to her 3rd place overall. |
