Roisin Wins In Ashford: Adamstown Cyclist Roisin Kennedy made it two wins in a row, and two wins in two days to win Stage 1 of the Wicklow Womens League 09 in Ashford on Tuesday night (June 2nd).
Sandra Fitzgerald was close behind taking 3rd prize - The new Lucan rider is coming off the back of double Stage Wins at the Boot Inn, Sandra is in her first season for the club, and is already showing an ability that could see the 23 year old as a major force in Womens Cycling in the coming seasons. Kayleigh Gibbons came home as 1st Under 14 Rider and 14th Overall. The young Track Star is already an established rider for the club. Kayleigh completed the event with Team Official Brendan Whelan and her very nervous mother Denice following close behind in the car. Kayleigh put in an impressive performance, in one of her least fovourite disciplines - There will be no rest for the Youth rider, as she will compete in the Sundrive Track League on Wednesday night (all after completing the womens mini Marathon with her mother Denice at the Weekend). The League is run on a Handicap basis - and the Lucan Girls will have to fight hard in the coming weeks to maintain their positions.
